Operation Helmet

@ 09:24 AM (48 months, 13 days ago)

Hello, everybody! I want to take this opportunity to plea for a worthy cause to support our troops this Christmas. The current standard issue Kevlar helmet that our soldiers are given fits loosely with a lot of wiggle room,(I had one that actually fell over my eyes most of the time.) and will rock violently when given an impact, and even if the helmet stops a bullet, the resulting blunt force trauma can kill or permanently disable the soldier wearing it with intra cranial bleeding. The government has slated their replacement with a better design over the next eighteen months. That's good, but may be too little too late for the soldier serving in a war zone.

What can be done? Operation Helmet has invented an upgrade kit that can be installed with only a screwdriver and consists of an improved webbing strap, and pads that fit snugly around the head, absorbing shock and minimizing movement of the helmet when impacted. The cost is less than $100, and can be designated to a specific soldier, unit or a donation can be made in general. Operation Helmet promises that when you donate, an upgrade kit WILL reach a soldier.

This is a worthwhile gift and gives us a way to help protect the lives of the men who are out bravely risking theirs everyday to protect us. Go to operationhelmet.org and check this out, PLEASE!!!

  1. Thanks for the plug. We have far more requests than funds allow us to fill, so any and all help is appreciated. We didn't invent the shock-absorbing suspension system that protects from blast forces, frags carried thereon, or being tumbled inside a vehicle. We just purchase them and send free to troops in Iraq an Afghanistan...mainly Marine/Navy/Air Force now that the Army has purchased 880,000 helmets with the pad system factory installed.
    Thanks for what you do.
