Anyone else sick of all the 'Brokeback' hype?

  1. Yes, even the Humpback Mountain jokes aren't funny any more. You can bet this flick will win the Oscar for Best Picture, and be lauded as " a courageous milestone"---in America's long slide to decadence, that is.

  2. I don't watch the Oscars or the SAGs, or any other such tripe. Who wants to see a bunch of degenerate, out of touch elitists pat each other on the back for basically doing nothing. Nothing important, anyway.

  3. Apparently, you never saw Tea and Sympathy a 50's film that was very pro-homosexuality. "Brokeback" is hardly a milestone - just more of the same Hollywood tripe with less censorship.

  4. I don't give a rats ass. Mrs. G. and I are not going.

  5. I have seen some of "Tea and Sympathy", with Rex Harrison and Richard Burton, but never the whole film. My point is that it was, and is, considered camp, but BM is "high art", i.e., politically correct tripe.

  6. Considered camp now, but in its day it caused quite a stir - it was 'scandalous' and the hype it received was proportional to the era in which it was released...
You know, Hollywood. The furor will wane and another creepshow will emerge with even more degenerate behavior that we are supposed to first, tolerate, and then embrace. It's an ever downward moral spiral - but, heh, that's supposed to be your argument. I'm supposed to be shouting "Free Speech!"
And bythe way, BM seems like the perfect abbreviation for this flick. It appears to be quite a load. LOL.

  7. Obviously the French have a hand in this somewhere.

  8. "degenerate, out of touch elitists" are a better candidate than the French for pushing this swill. Hollywood Homos (there's a redundancy)can never sink low enough. Why aren't there people picketing this movie, as they did with LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST? Why have even some mainline churches called it, " a love story", but with the wrong cast?

  9. Good questions, LOA. As for me, I picket with my purchasing power. I haven't seen it and will not support it.

  10. Agreed. The boycott is the best antidote, and hurts Hollywood where it burns---in the profit margin.I should add that what Hollywood pushes is not so much liberalism as moral relativism and cynicism, the latter being more insidious because it teaches youth, in particular, that nothing matters and nothing is worth standing up for. (I'll ignore for the moment Dorothy Parker's quip: "The only ism Hollywood believes in is plagiarism.") This is as true of slasher flicks as of the latest Heavy Message drama from Spielberg or Eastwood. I'll take Bogie or John Wayne any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.
